TMP Architecture is proud to announce the East China Innovation Center has been awarded American School & University’s Silver Citation, recognizing not only design excellence but its effectiveness supporting teaching, learning, and flexibility.
AS&U’s 2026 Educational Interiors Showcase celebrates projects that meet today’s educational challenges with creativity, innovation, and aesthetic appeal. Submissions are reviewed by a jury of architects who specialize in the education sector and facility management professionals who manage and operate school buildings.
The East China Innovation Center was one of eleven projects nationwide to be selected for a Citation. Silver Citations are awarded to projects exhibiting exemplary features including fresh approaches to design, materials, and floor plans and projects focused on wellbeing.
“The design provides a vibrant, transparent, student-centered environment with strong spatial variety and a contemporary educational character,” read comments from the 2026 Jury.
Made possible by an East China School District community supported bond initiative, the Innovation Center creates a centrally located, unified hub for collaborative learning and innovative High School STEM instruction. The student-centered facility features flexible learning studios, STEM labs, and collaboration zones with adaptable furnishings supporting cross-discipline teamwork.

“East China School District is incredibly proud of our Innovation Center,” said Superintendent Suzanne Cybulla. “By bringing together students together in one collaborative learning environment, the Innovation Center prepares them with the skills, knowledge, and experiences they need to succeed in college, careers, and beyond.”
The East China Innovation Center was completed in August of 2023.
