Walled Lake Western Design Wins Citation of Excellence

Walled Lake Consolidated Schools’ Western High School Academic Addition has received a 2025 Citation of Excellence from Learning By Design Magazine. The award-winning project is featured in the publication’s Fall 2025 Architecture and Interior Design Awards of Excellence issue.

TMP Architecture, Inc.’s design of the Walled Lake Western High School Academic Addition has been recognized as an award-winning benchmark facility for its incorporation of next generation learning space design and planning methodologies. The jury found the project’s built environment characteristics worthy of replication by other educators and design professionals. All submissions to the Fall 2025 awards program were peer-reviewed by a jury of vetted education design professionals and scored on six submission criteria.

“This is a beautiful project, with clear organization and successful inclusion of small group spaces to foster project-based learning,” read jury comments, “The interiors are beautiful, comfortable, and inspirational. The fireplace is a perfect touch to create a natural gathering space and gives the project an extra bit of cool factor.”

The first step in a three-phase renovation of Walled Lake Western High School, this 152,657 square-foot addition connects contemporary instructional practices with high-impact learning spaces. Featuring glass in signature Walled Lake Western blue, the two-story addition creates a collegiate campus atmosphere promoting student collaboration. The project was part of the $316 million bond program passed by the community in 2019.

TMP is honored to serve the Walled Lake Consolidated Schools community by bringing 2019 Bond projects to life to meet the needs of students today and into the future.
