John Burhenn is TMP’s Director of Sustainability and is committed both at work and at home to developing sustainable buildings. He has been LEED AP since 2008 and passionate about this since the energy crisis in the 80s. He has been LEED Project Manager for multiple projects at TMP including U of M Athletic South Competition Project (now Steven M Ross South Athletic Campus), U of M Taubman Medical Science Library, and Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Detroit, as some examples. He was also the Project Manager on the U of M School of Dance, a high-performance building which got LEED Silver. He is converting his own Ann Arbor home, too, to a net zero energy house and has participated in local green councils. He brings sustainability into every project he does, regardless of whether it’s a LEED project or not.
