The Board of Directors of TMP Architecture, Inc. has promoted Eric (Ric) Whitney to Principal of the firm. Whitney joined TMP Architecture as senior food service designer in 2022, focusing on K-12, college, and university kitchen projects. Whitney has forty-five years of food service project management experience encapsulating all phases of design through installation.
“Ric is tirelessly enthusiastic about his work and a great problem solver,” says TMP Chief Design Officer David Larson, AIA of Whitney, “having Ric on the TMP team is so valuable in the design process. He gets involved in our projects very early and enhances our ability to provide excellent service to our clients.”
Prior to TMP, Ric co-owned and operated EF Whitney, Inc. with his brother, Ed Whitney, Jr. for many years. The firm, a premier food service consulting company, was founded by their father, Ed Whitney, Sr. Having partnered with TMP as a food design consultant on thousands of school projects, he was a natural addition to the team.
Whitney believes kitchen design is where creativity meets function. “Every project is like solving a unique puzzle. I love taking a blank space and turning it into something that works efficiently for the kitchen staff as well as being appealing to the students for the short time of day they don’t have to think about academics,” says Whitney.
Before beginning his career in design, Whitney completed a degree in Hospitality Management, which included two years of culinary school.
Congratulations, Ric. TMP thanks you for all of your work and dedication and looks forward to your continued success in food service design.
