Taft-Galloway Elementary School Addition & Remodeling

The social, physical and learning needs of elementary age students are at the core of all aspects of the new addition and remodeled areas of this school. The creation of the “new” school consisted of the demolition of 36,000 SF, a 37,000 SF addition and 9,000 SF remodeled. A simple but effective design solution promotes ease of navigation, circulation and supervision, and a new administration office provides simple visual control over visitors to the school. Students enjoy fixtures and furniture at their size and level and a cheerful and playful color palette and floor patterns. To work within the confines of a tight, residential site, the new classroom wing was designed as a two-story addition.
