Oakman Elementary School Addition & Remodeling

Oakman Elementary is a school with both exceptional educational offerings and unique architectural features. Two separate additions required sensitivity to the existing architecture, including Gothic ornamentation on a background of rough textured stone. A two-story addition houses four classrooms, two specialized classrooms, and a new elevator. The second addition, with a continuation of the existing exterior stone facade, consists of a 200-seat cafeteria, as well as a new kitchen and serving area. Renovation to the existing building included converting the existing cafeteria and kitchen to an art room, and the locker rooms to a music room. The gymnasium received a stage enlargement, improved lighting, and overall cosmetic improvements. General renovation items typical throughout include: barrier free accessibility, new floor finishes, new ceilings and lighting, electrical improvements, and mechanical updates.
