Students and visitors enter this renovated high school into a two-story atrium, a dramatic, open space with skylights and a balcony which serves as a student commons. Other elements of the addition include interactive technology labs, spacious new science, cooperative and general classrooms, state-of-the-art fitness and aerobics/wrestling rooms, and a colorful, enlarged cafeteria. Existing spaces also received improvements and widening of circulation paths, general finish upgrades and the addition of skylights to enliven the interior of the school. The most noticeable part of the new school is the contemporary, curving front wall that not only creates a new image from the road but also screens the original structure and ties the asymmetrical building together.
