Won’t you be my neighbor? Designers were challenged with the prospect of siting this new school on a tight piece of property nestled between a quiet residential neighborhood and a busy commercial street. The resulting 2-story understated scheme blends in with adjacent commercial buildings, and is a good neighbor to private homes across the street. At 72,000 SF, the school can house 500 students, as opposed to 350 at the former location. The colorful pre-school area has a winding “streetscape” corridor with washable wall panels and themed entry points for each set of two classrooms, while a central atrium features a series of skylights that bring natural light into the school.
